If you feel as though you are constantly run off your feet and that there simply isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done, then you are certainly not alone. So many people are in the same situation as you are right now, but there are things that you can do to try and make things easier on yourself. Simply take a look below to get some helpful tips.
Know what’s Important
Think about it, what is important in your life? What do you feel as though your priorities are? If possible, you need to decide what you value the most in your life so that you can then filter out any other obligations that may interfere with this. If you have foster children, then they may require a lot of your time if they need to be taken to soccer practice or if they like to partake in group activities at school. If you constantly feel like you are being pulled away from things like this because you have work commitments, then this needs to change. If you can do this, then you will soon find that it is easier to align things with your priorities, obligations, and values. Pulling away from work isn’t easy, but simple things, like asking your boss if you can work flexible hours can really work in your favor.
Keep Your Home Organized
Your home doesn’t ever have to be perfectly kept. If you try and achieve this, then you may find that you eventually become burnt out and this can work against you. You do however need to try and be as organized as possible. If you have to spend more than 10 minutes at a time looking for an item, then this is not efficient, and it will be taking a huge chunk of time out of your already chaotic day. You need to try and develop a system so that everyone knows where their things are, and so that they can grab things on their way out of the door. Teach your kids that it is their responsibility to try and put things where they belong as soon as they get in through the door. If they do not comply with the house rules that you have set, then you need to make sure that they are met with consequence. If you can do this, then you will soon find that your general household activities become easier.
Let Go of Perfection
So many parents put far too much pressure on themselves, and they feel as though their children need to live up to a certain standard. If you try and achieve perfection, then you may find that this takes up far too much of your time and energy. You have to remember that sometimes getting the job done is enough and that not everything has to be completed to an incredibly high standard. If you can let go of the idea of perfection, then this will help you out more than you realize in the long run so keep that in mind.
