Carseat Safety Awareness: Graco My Ride 65

*Disclaimer - I received a Graco My Ride 65 from Graco for carseat awareness and safety week, in order to facilitate my review. All opinions are 100% that of my own.

Are you needing a good forward facing seat or extended rear facing?

Below you'll find some photos of my daughter in her new Graco My Ride 65 convertible carseat. She is 4 1/2 years old and is 42 - 43 lbs. I had to get my Dad to help me adjust the straps to the highest point, so it was for her height and fit correctly. She had been in a no back booster seat for about a 9 months or so, and I decided that I'd like to keep her harnessed for a bit longer and that I'd like to try the Graco My Ride 65 for her, and got the opportunity to review with them to help with Carseat Safety Awareness. I am setting the booster seat aside for when she is ready to go back in it.

Just because your child maybe 4 years old and 40 lbs, doesn't automatically mean it's what is needed at that time. I thought that too, but paid attention to how she slept on car rides. She slouched over and it was clear that I needed to either get a highback booster seat or a harnessed carseat. I did try a highback, but it was too bulky for what we needed, so I went with Graco and she seems to be doing great in it so far on car rides. She does not slouch at all if she falls asleep, so that is a big plus.

The price:
$179.99 on the Graco website.

How it looks like with a older child in it and why height matters: My son in the second photo is 5 1/2 and is 3 ft 4 - 5" I think now, and is 45 lbs or so, and is too tall for this carseat. The only reason I had him get in one of the pictures for my review is to show how the height does make a difference on if a child can use this carseat or not. He wasn't too thrilled to have to sit in it for a picture as you can see.

What does this carseat offer for safety?
- It keeps baby rear facing up to 40 lbs
- It keeps child forward facing in harnessed seat from 20 - 65 lbs
- Latch equipped
- 5 point, front adjust harness helps get your child in and out
- Dual cup holders help keep your child's drink close by
