Why Drinking Water Matters
Jun 19, 2017
Today I have a guest poster, AnnMarie John who will be writing for Chit Chat Mom. It's very rare that I have a guest poster and I'm oh so happy to have someone write for me so I can take the time off. So without further ado, here's AnnMarie on why drinking water matters.
Did you know that our bodies are over 70% water? This fact alone makes perfect sense as to why we need to drink water and do so often. Our bodies are entirely made up of water. Think about it, more than half of our body is made up of this clear liquid. Water matters and it’s time more people started to realize this fact. Today we will share reasons why drinking water matters. We hope these reasons will help entice you to drink more water.

Benefits Of Music In Child Development
Parents all over the world are learning what scientists and researchers already know: music is great for the development of a young mind. Children of all ages thrive when music becomes a major part of their development. Not only is listening to music fun for children, but it is also helpful.
By engaging your child with music that is age appropriate and played in the proper environment, you can spur the development of many different aspects of intelligence. There's a lot of aids you can use, such as music CDs or DVDs, which can be bought cheap with a 30% off Sears Coupon, so it really isn't difficult to introduce your kid to the world of sounds. Let's take a closer look at the various levels of development where listening to music can provide benefits.
Early Literacy Skills
By listening to music, children are exposed to the phonological processing that will help them to enunciate and understand more of the English language at a much younger age than their music deprived counterparts. Their ability to comprehend spoken language is improved and the same comprehension skills that are used when children first learn to read are also able to flourish.
Enhanced Creativity
As you might expect, exposing children to positive forms of creative expression during their formative years helps them to develop the same skills themselves. By providing activities such as listening to music, you can spark your child's own creativity and give them the inspiration they need to create their own works of artistic excellence later in life.
Quantitative Reasoning
Exposure to music at a young age does more to help children learn to speak or inspire them to pursue their own creative muses, it can also lead to increased aptitude in careers such as science and engineering. Listening to music at a young age has been proven to improve a child's spatial-temporal skills, as well as their reasoning ability. Their mathematical skills are also greatly enhanced by early exposure to music.
Emotional and Social Skills
Studies have shown that children who regularly listen to music at a young age are much more school ready, with improved emotional and social skills. A child's ability to relate to the world around them is improved and they can also relate to their fellow students in a number of complex ways. Music also teaches children how to keep their responses to others regulated, a skill that some children need much longer to master.
Physical Development
In order to fully enjoy listening to music, a child will obviously want to get up dance, as well. Don't discourage this natural impulse, as it will lead to increased motor skills and serve as the catalyst for more rapid physical development from your child. In addition to dancing and moving around while music is playing, children also benefit greatly from learning how to play instruments at a young age. This also serves as a great beneficiary to their motor skill development.
