Get up!

Having trouble falling or staying asleep is a miserable enough condition in and of itself; if you're also experiencing anxiety on top of that and nothing seems to help, it's probably best to get up and do something else for a while. Participate in an activity that brings you joy, such as playing a video game, reading a book, or perhaps baking some cookies. Here’s an amazing rainbow cookies recipe. When you notice that your mind is starting to feel fatigued, it's time to go back to bed and give it another shot. Staying in bed won't help you feel any better; in fact, it will make you feel even worse!

Stay away from cigarettes and alcohol.

Although there is nothing inherently wrong with enjoying an alcoholic beverage, drinking too much alcohol in the hours leading up to night might either bring on anxiety or make existing symptoms of anxiety worse. If you want to enjoy a glass of your preferred beverage before night, do so no later than two hours before hitting the hay, and wash it down with water before you get into bed to mitigate any potential hangover the next day. Smoking can also cause breathlessness. Quit smoking for your health and anxiety.

Consider your diet.

Like alcohol and cigarettes, food can increase anxiety. Did you know that eating junk food might lead to an imbalance in the chemicals that make up the brain? When this occurs, mental shifts occur, increasing susceptibility to anxiety and sadness. If you want to get rid of your nighttime anxiety and enhance your overall health, try eating a healthy, balanced diet.

Reduce your stress levels.

Stress is a part of life for everyone, however some people feel it more acutely than others. But everyone has a different tolerance for pressure, and if you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, it's natural to feel anxious. Make the effort to reduce your stress levels as much as possible, whether that involves quitting your work or relocating. You'll be a happier, healthier person who functions better the more sleep you get.

Keep your mind off of things

Nighttime anxiety is the worst because it prevents you from getting the rest you need. However, the solitude and darkness of the room may make your anxiety worse, so finding a way to divert your attention is essential. Put your TV on a timer so it will turn off in a few hours, then watch a movie or show you enjoy quietly in the background to take your mind off things. You might also try reading a book and losing yourself in a captivating tale to take your mind off of your worries. You'll start to feel sleepy and be able to drift off without worrying.

Stop using electronics

Even if anxiety isn't a factor, the blue light emitted by electronic devices like smartphones and tablets can make it difficult to fall asleep. To aid in closing your eyes and drifting off to sleep, turn off or put away all electronic gadgets. Avoid reaching for your phone and instead try the strategies above if you need a diversion.
