Have you seen Top Chef Jr yet?
I had the amazing opportunity to take part in a press conference call with Vanessa Lachey and Curtis Stone, from Top Chef Jr to talk about the show! I don't have cable so I'm not able to watch it but it sounds like a great show especially for kids to learn more about cooking!
Some things that I learned through talking with and listening to Vanessa and Curtis are interesting and good points, so be sure to keep reading!
Be sure to involve your kids in cooking starting at a young age. They will start to catch on and learn to love to help and learn. It's really good to expose kids to cooking younger age wise, so that they're not afraid of any kitchen tools and utensils. Have a fun time teaching your kids to cook.
Question 1:
What changes do you guys make to adapt the show for younger chefs?
There are actually very few changes made for Top Chef Jr. They give a time limit and stick with it. They love being part of their own show.
Question 2:
What's your favorite part about working with young chefs?
Watching how quickly they grow and learn. They got mentored by some of the top chefs in the world. They caught on fast to make changes to be a better chef, and appreciated the criticism that they are given.
A thing that Vanessa has learned from the show is different ways to cook a certain meal. Curtis likes how the kids on Top Chef Jr are so creative when it comes to cooking.
And, YES there WILL be a season 2 of Top Chef Jr!!
Love the show Top Chef Jr. Those kids are talented and I'm actually jealous of their skills.
