Are you looking for a good carseat brand for your child you can trust?
This carseat is literally EVERYTHING and I just love every single thing about it. Carseats are a very crucial part of parenting and picking the perfect one for your child can be hard to do sometimes, with not knowing what your child needs in a carseat or not being educated on the safest seating for your child's age, etc. So many things factor into a carseat purchase. Our two year old son is still of course rear facing and will be until probably 3 or 3 1/2 years old. The state law for Pennsylvania is age 2 for rear facing, so you NEED to check your state laws for the "minimum" age limit for rear facing, BUT know that the safest for your little one(s) is a bare minimum of two years rear facing, because their necks and legs aren't strong enough to withhold the force of a car accident if heaven forbid that were to happen.
And if he or she were to be forward facing too early, there could be some serious injuries; as well as if you forward face your child before the bare minimum age limit of your state, you could get up to a $500 fine from police too. It's not worth those types of risks just to forward face your child when you want them to.
Below you can see the side view of our son's radian rXT carseat. I love how it's tightly secured in the car and it doesn't budge when he's in the seat, as well as when it's empty. I highly recommend this seat for birth on up. It will allow you to rear face your child in this seat from 5 lbs to 45 lbs. So, with this seat your safest option is to rear face as long as your carseat will allow weight wise.
Our toddler is only about 30 lbs so he has plenty of growing room yet. He's 33 1/2 inches tall as well and he fits perfectly in this seat. It doesn't bundle his legs in a bunch or anything either, which is great. He sits very comfortably in this one and seems to really enjoy car rides more now.
The one thing I do love the most is the 5 point harness in the radian rXT; it's easy to adjust and secure / fasten, and it stays in place too! This is honestly the best carseat we have owned yet, and our oldest is nine years old!
It'll allow you to forward face up to 80 lbs in a 5 point harness, and it also converts into a booster seat mode for kids who are 50 - 120 lbs.

We are already reseraching car seats for when Liams infant seat is too small and this is so helpful! Its so hard to know what to get!
ReplyDeleteIs it two now for rear facing? Wow - when my kids were little, they did it by weight and both my sons were forward facing before one. I didn't realize things had changed. It's been over 20 years, though.
ReplyDeleteI have heard many good things about Diono. I have not personally tried the Radian RXT Convertible Carseat, but it looks like a great option!

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great seat. I love that it goes up to 120lbs. I also like that it goes to 45lbs for rear facing. A lot of sets end at 40lbs

ReplyDeleteWe turned our son around at a little over 1 years old and then decided to turn him back rear facing a little longer until we got a differ car-seat and he was a older. You are right to say check with your state, because it each area is different. Also in each child and each car-seat. I absolutely hated how my first forward facing car-seat fitted in my car, but it worked perfectly in my husband's car. I always lean on the side to be more cautious than not. Great review.

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great car seat. I was always worried about keeping mine facing the rear when they were little as they had long legs and looked really uncomfortable. I stuck to the child safety rules though, and we didn't come across any problems :)
