I was very fortunate and blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom to my kids for 5 1/2 years of my son's life and almost 5 years of my daughter's. I am very thankful I was able to be there for ALL their firsts they had as babies on up to older years. I did however work off and on for 10 months in part of 2009/2010.
The job of a stay at home mom is to ensure that their child gets the love, care, learning, potty training, etc they need before they go to school later on. I know for myself, I started potty training my kids at 18 months old and they were completely PT by age 2 and 2 1/2. As for learning, I also started them at about the same age of 18 months with learning their ABCs, numbers 1 - 10, all their colors, shapes, addition up to 9 + 1, and more! They have always loved to be read to.
I know that my kids benefited more while I was a stay at home mom vs when I was / am working. I know they miss me while I am working but they love to play with their friends and interact with the kids their age too. My daughter will start kindergarten in the fall.
