Summer Fun on a Budget

I know with having three kids finding things to do within a certain budget can be hard, but it's very doable as well.

What are some fun summer activities that your family does?
Well, we live in a small town and with a growing family it's a little tight sometimes, but we still find plenty to do where we live, without going far. A good piece of advice is when you're going to be out and about, pack a lunch rather than buying out at a fast food place.

Some things our family has done so far this summer and are doing:
1. Camping with cub scouts
2. Swimming
3. Going to the lake and having a picnic after swimming
4. Lots of time spent playing at the park. It's a two minute walk and is free!
5. Playing video games at home
6. Cooking out on the grill
7. Going to my in laws house a few times a week
8. Playing with bubbles outside at home
9. Riding their bikes outside
10. Helping Daddy outside when they want to

  1. We spent $80 on a season parking pass for the beach and will be there every day! Money very well spent :)

  6. We bought season passes to Hersheypark and will likely go there several times. We also are planning a trip to a local city to window shop at the mall; since, it is so hot.

  7. Great ideas! We usually will go to parks, go to the river or the beach! So much to do for little to nothing, money-wise!

  8. Great ideas. We don't camp in the summer as it is just way too hot but everything else is something we try and do. Nothing better than the pool when you feel like you are melting.

  9. These are some great ideas! I think we all get caught up in doing activities that aren't so cheap now and then, but there is so much you can do around the house to have fun on the cheap.

  10. We do a lot of local activities during the summer and stay home alot. We feel that spending time together is more important than going somewhere and spending a lot of money.

  11. We have a backyard pool and it's where we've spent most of our time so far. We do love going for walks, though, and my mom lives just a block away so we've spent a lot of time there, too.
