Arrive with plenty of time

The whole point of going to a spa is to relax and switch off so the last thing you want is to be rushing around feeling stressed and late. To avoid this, get there with plenty of time so you can enjoy the facilities and ease into the whole experience. If you have something booked, you want some time to enjoy the facilities such as the steam room and sauna before you have your massage or other treatment. When arranging your day, look to book the signature spa experience to really make the most of your trip.

Allow yourself to fully switch off

Switch your phone or other devices off and leave them in your locker or hotel room if you’re staying. While you might go in there saying you’re only going to use your phone to take some photos, it’s all too easy to get distracted and end up scrolling through social media or checking your work emails. By leaving your phone locked away, you can allow yourself to let go of the stress of everyday life and be away from technology - something that’s harder and harder to do in today’s landscape!

Consider your food and drink

Some spas have food and drink on offer, whereas others only have light bites, so look this up before you go. When you are in the spa, if you do choose to eat or drink while you’re there, it’s best to opt for something light so you feel comfortable during your treatment and when in the different rooms. Salads, smoothies, and juices are all good choices when on your spa visit. You could also indulge in a glass of fizz, but make sure you drink plenty of water after as you can be dehydrated after the heat of the rooms and your treatment too.

These are just a few top tips that will help you to get the most from your first spa day. Whether you’re doing a solo trip, heading with friends or going with a family member, a spa day is something you are guaranteed to enjoy - and you’ll probably want to book another one as soon as it’s time to leave!
