Wild Africa Trek at Disney's Animal Kingdom

I will be having some Disney related posts over the next few months which are written by my friend Kelli @DreamAdventuresTravelCo

I recently had the opportunity to experience Wild Africa Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

For anyone who has never had the opportunity to go on this AMAZING, PRIVATELY GUIDED, 3 HOUR, BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR, you need to!  Immediately!  Heck, book a Disney Vacation just to go on this tour!

During this tour you will walk along a grassland path, cross over rope bridges and ride in a safari vehicle over an open savanna!  You will have the opportunity to meet the different faces of some of the most beautiful animals that reside at Disney’s Animal Kingdom all while listening to very knowledgeable guides that get to interact with these amazing creatures every day!

Have I talked you into yet?  If this is something you’re considering, I’m sure at this point you’re asking yourself is this tour really worth the cost? (An additional $189+ per person)!!!
Yes! Yes! And Yes!

Here is why this tour should be on your ultimate Disney Bucket List!

1) Behind the Scenes at Kilimanjaro Safaris
If you’ve ever been to Disney’s Animal Kingdom you’ve probably enjoyed the rugged bus tours around Kilimanjaro Safaris!  The Wild Africa Trek takes you INSIDE that tour!  Instead of leaning over people to get a glimpse of the crocodiles, you are walking above them on a rope bridge!  Instead of just seeing the tops of the hippos in the water, you can feed them lettuce and learn their names!  Instead of just driving by the giraffes, you can sit and watch them at a distance so close you can almost touch them!

2) Education
For those of you taking your kiddos (8 and older) out of school, this is an amazing learning opportunity!!!! During this 3 hour tour, you will learn so many details about each of the animals!  Because you are in a small group you have the opportunity to ask questions and have conversations with the staff that care for these animals every day!  One of the most amazing things I learned on this tour was how loved these animals are by the staff at Disney!  Their passion for these animals shines through!

3) It’s for a good cause!
A portion of the proceeds from your tour will go towards a conservation effort of your choice!  Disney is amazing in all things, but they are very dedicated to animal conservation!  During your tour you will learn about their conservation efforts and have the opportunity to ask questions!  At the end of the tour, you can decide which group you would like your proceeds to benefit!

4) Cool swag and professional photos too!!
So not only do you get the opportunity to get up close and personal with amazing animals but you get some amazing swag as well!  You will be outfitted in gear to keep you safe throughout your tour!  You don’t get to take that home BUT you do get to keep the awesome name badge, conservation pin, and a stainless steel water jug that is attached to you during your trek!  On top of all that, one of your guides will be taking photographs of your entire journey!  So you can leave your phone or camera back in your locker and enjoy every moment of this tour!!

5) Ends with a delicious meal
At the end of your tour you will be taken to a pavilion with breathtaking views of the Savannah, and served a delicious meal provided by Tusker House Restaurant!  Sit back and watch the animals in their habitats as you dine on a light meal that will leave your taste buds tingling!
