The hubby and I spent another Baby Sunday yesterday doing things to get the baby girl’s nursery ready, and I must say it looks adorable. However, I am more convinced then ever that men just don’t understand the purpose of preparing the nursery. My hubby was great about hanging the shelves and adding a couple of little wall decor items here and there but when I told him how much I loved it and how I thought I was going to cry his response was, “you know she’s not even going to notice this stuff for months or maybe even years.” Ouch. Thanks babe for that little dose of reality. I guess he’s right that she isn’t going to care what color her room is painted or appreciate the work that went into the little details. She’s going to care about being warm, being fed and feeling secure in her new life outside of my tummy bump. However, I still think that prepping the nursery is an important part of the preparation for welcoming a new member into the family. I guess with my hormones and the fact that I carry her around with me 24/7 I just get a little more into those details and hey I’m a chick…. it’s what we do.

So how ’bout you mamas? Did you have a hard time getting your hubby into the excitement of prepping the nursery for baby? Leave ChitChatMom a comment and tell me your nursery story.

I can’t believe I’m 30 weeks preggers. The time has both flown by and drug on in some mysterious way. I have a feeling that the same is going to be true of the time remaining until the little one makes her grand entrance into the world. So what’s on the agenda for today’s Baby Sunday? Finishing the nursery. We’ve got some painting left to do (pink painting of course) and some decor to put up on the wall. Once those tasks are done the nursery will pretty much be complete. I’ll be having a shower with my girlfriends at the end of the month and I wanted to be sure that everything nursery related would be complete so that I’ll be able to put away gifts that the baby girl receives without creating a pile of stuff that I’ll have to go through later. I would much rather be able to put things right where they belong the first time. Can anyone say O.C.D. mama? I know… motherhood is really going to take it out on me. I’m going to have to learn patience and get over things not always being in their place.

So that’s the plan for today’s Baby Sunday. Can’t wait to have the nursery complete!

Ahhh… Baby Sunday. Oh how I love you.

Today’s Baby Sunday is going to consist of a whole lot of pink paint! The hubby had painted one wall of the baby girl’s room chocolate brown and left the others a cream color (this was before we knew it was a baby girl). The paint scheme was very gender neutral and I had every plan to keep it that way. Then one of my girlfriends came over and painted a dresser two lovely shades of pink and the very calm, gender neutral paint scheme plan flew out the window!

Today she’s coming back over to the house to paint another wall in the fabulously girly “Bubblegum” pink paint color from Dunn Edwards. I am so excited. It could end up being way to much pink… but I don’t think so. I love pink!!! Especially pink with chocolate brown. I just hope the baby girl does too.

I must confess, in case you didn’t notice. I didn’t do my daily ChitChatMom post yesterday. I have been so consistent, so now I feel a little guilty, but oh well. I had a very busy day that consisted of a waxing appointment (eyebrows, underarms and bikini line – since I can’t see it anymore), lunch with a girlfriend, a romantic comedy (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past), baby clothes shopping (great sale at babyGap) and then baby bump shopping.

With only 13 weeks left to go, the baby girl still needs to gain somewhere in the range of five additional pounds and the maternity capris I have just aren’t going to make it another five pounds. Plus, it was time to add another dress, a skirt and a couple of pairs of shorts to my maternity wardrobe. So I did. And that’s my excuse for not posting yesterday. Oh and that my internet was down when I got back from my very full day of doing girly stuff and I just didn’t have the energy to fight with it… no matter how serious my addiction is.

Happy Baby Sunday to all you other preggers mamas. Hope you enjoy your day!

After a wonderful weekend, that went way way too fast, it’s time to get it together and get to work. Sometimes I just don’t get how Saturdays and Sundays can fly by so fast and Mondays and Tuesdays can crawl at a snail’s pace.

Since yesterday was Mother’s Day, I made this past Saturday the “Baby Sunday” day in our house. One of my girlfriends came over and painted a dresser for me for the baby girl’s room. The dresser was white and she painted it two shades of pink… and it’s adorable! I’m loving it. Even the hubby likes it.

On Sunday we had the hubby’s fam over for a big breakfast and to chat. Hubby and I then spent the rest of the day catching up on our non-baby related to-do lists. For me that meant an afternoon spent at the computer getting work done and for hubby a much deserved nap on the couch. Hmm… it was Mother’s Day right? I’m thinking maybe we got it backwards. I should have taken the nap, but I didn’t.

And before I knew it… my alarm was going off this morning and sending me back into the trenches. Okay, so it’s not that bad. I really can’t complain. I do like my job and the people I work with. It’s just that now with only 14 weeks or so left before the baby girl makes her appearance, I’m anxious with anticipation. I feel like “baby, baby, baby” is all I think about. I also find myself wanting to spend as much time with the hubby as I can… knowing that after she arrives it will never again be just the two of us.

So that’s my excuse for these Monday Morning Blues… what’s yours?

It’s Baby Sunday once again and the hubby and I are off to a great start. After a rare morning of sleeping in for me (I managed to sleep until abut 8:15am), I was able to get some ChitChatMom business done before the hubby got up. We just finished a great breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon and just as soon as I finish my blog entry we’ll be heading into the baby girl’s room to do some serious nursery stuff. We’ve got a curtain rod to hang. Then we’ll hang the curtains and if I get lucky… hubby will finish hanging the shelves I bought for the baby girl’s room. Then there are the two organization basket unit thinga majigs from Ikea to put together. All in all it’s looking to be a great and productive Baby Sunday.

The other task I hope to get done today is to decide on a phrase to use for a custom wall decal for the baby girl’s room. Both hubby and I love words, phrases and quotes and I’d like to have a custom one done to put on the wall above the baby girl’s crib in the nursery. I planning to order from the site WonderfulGraffiti.com. They’ve got a ton of pre-made designs that you can change the colors on and you can also have a custom piece made. I’m thinking of having one done that reads, “This Place is Filled with Love” in cream colored text that I can place on the chocolate brown wall in the nursery.

Have you ever had a custom wall decal made? If you have… leave me a comment and tell me about it!

Hope all you mamas are having lovely weekends with your families. It’s getting hard to believe that in about 15 weeks life will never be the same again. We can’t wait!

Happy Sunday mamas! Only 16 more Baby Sundays to go until my little one is due. It’s hard to believe that she’ll be here that soon. So what’s on tap for today’s Baby Sunday activities? First the hubby and I are headed to church and then lunch with friends. When we get home my goal is to get the curtain rod hung for her new curtains in the nursery and possibly the shelves hung as well. Now that doesn’t sound like a lot to me… but the hubby is going to have to do it ‘cuz it’s just not safe for me to stand on a stool or a ladder any more. My sense of balance is way off kilter.

I bought the curtains (they’re pink) at Bed Bath & Beyond for $19.99 per panel. I got the valance, but not sure if I’ll use it. I also bought some sheer white panels for underneath since I’m using a double curtain rod. I still haven’t decided on what to do with her crib. I’ve read that it’s a much better idea to go “bare” in the crib for baby’s safety. I do think I’ll try to find a great dust ruffle for the bottom of the crib.

So that’s the Baby Sunday plan for today. Nothing too dramatic or too exciting… but that’s not so bad. There’ll be plenty of excitement in about 16 Sundays or so.
