Family Travel Ideas

Looking to travel with your family, but are on a budget? Not sure how to make it work?

See some ways you can find some local fun without even leaving town if you can't.

We like to enjoy traveling too, with our kids but some years we just can't make it possible to go OUT of town like we may want to do. If you don't want to spend much money and want to stay local, then go for a carnival or festival that your city may have going on in the summer.

There's always the option of going to the zoo or your local park or parks as well, depending on if you live in a bigger city or just a small town like we do. There isn't a whole lot to do where we live, but there's always the park, Walmart, and then our carnival comes in July or so.

You could also head to your local lake or pond and walk along the rocks carefully or pathway if they have one for people to walk on. We have a park about 20 minutes or so from our home that has a nice walk way, as well as a river that goes through the woods. It makes for a nice afternoon or evening walk as a family, and is a lot of fun too.

  1. Hahhaa, I like that you included Walmart :) Mainly because it's one of the places to occupy time where we live out in farm country!

  2. I'll never forget the first time I took my kids to the Mall. ( At least when they were old enough to remember) They thought it was the greatest thing! LOL!

  5. Great ideas that are very reasonable to pull off! It's not always easy to get out of town with kids.
