Just because you are low on funds it doesn’t mean your children should miss out on family days out. Many families struggle with money, especially when the children are younger, and both parents aren't working.

But, just because you have a tight budget, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a fun family day out. There are lots of ways you can have a fantastic time with the kids without breaking the bank. Check out walmart free samples to see what goodies you can get for free!

For some fabulous ideas for saving money on family days out, have a read below:

Opt for free activities

To save yourself money swap between free and costly activities and days out.
So, for example, if every Saturday is your family day out day, three Saturdays out of the month aim to do a free activity. On the last Saturday of the month, plan to do something that costs a little more money.

Free activities:

Go to the library. For a fun, free family afternoon out take the children to your local library. Let them spend a couple of hours exploring the treasure troves of the library’s shelves, before each picking out a book to borrow and take home to read.

While the library may not seem like the most exciting of day trips, kids love using their imaginations, and where better than a library to bring their imaginations to life?

Have a picnic at the park. If the weather is nice, pack up a picnic and head to your local park. Find a spot under a tree and spend the day relaxing and playing together as a family. Children love being able to run about, and a park is the perfect place for this – it’s safe, has lots of entertainment options and will help them to burn off some energy.

Go for a family bike ride. Do some research and find your safest local bike trails. Preferably choose a path that is free of cars, especially if you have young children. Decide as a family where you would like to go – ask the children how many miles they would like to cycle. You can make it fun by giving out a healthy snack every time they reach a milestone of two miles, for example.

Save money on days out

As well as doing lots of free family activities, there are also lots of ways you can save money on family days out at events and attractions.

Take advantage of money off vouchers and coupons. Go into your local supermarket and see what they have on offer. Have a look at the Walmart free samples area and see if they have any discount coupons available as well. Supermarkets often have samples and discount vouchers to giveaway to local families.

Book in advance. You may be surprised by how much money you can save just by booking in advance. If you are booking your tickets online, compare different website to see which site offers you the cheapest tickets.

Go as part of a large group. Many attractions and events give extra discounts to groups of ten and more people. If there is a particular place you want to take the children to, such as a theme park, invite some friends or relatives along too. Not only will you save yourself money, you will also have someone to chat to while the kids play.
