Proteins in the form of lean meats, nuts and beans, approved vegetables - lettuce is free calories, approved fruit, healthy fats (must eat one per day), beans (no more than 1 per day). Optional foods include one serving of grain per day. Protein shakes are optional for everyday eating, but required on active days. Be sure to eat spices to help keep your food from getting bland!

Prior to Phase 1 it is often recommended to eat large amounts of protein because the detoxing starches and sugars from your body, which can cause headaches and sleepiness.  Eating these prior will allow you to combat these symptoms. The first 30 days are used to detox the body and balance hormones.

Phase 2 is the second 30 days and allows you to move up to 1,500 daily, with another 250 calories added on the active plan. You can eat basically the same foods; however, you can add certain foods, all vegetables (except potatoes and corn), all dairy (Mayo not included), butter, but no margarine.  regular unsweetened oatmeal, two slices of whole grain bread per day.   

Suggestions for keeping yourself going include: 
1. If you want to workout, do it in the morning so that your metabolism can be boosted for the day.
