If you’re reading this post it’s likely that you’re asking yourself ‘what in the world is Baby Sunday’? Well… I’ll tell you. Since pregnancy is measured in weeks and the beginning of the next week always starts on Sunday, my hubby and I (okay, mostly me) have taken to calling Sunday’s, “Baby Sundays”. Now that I am past 20 weeks (the official halfway mile marker of pregnancy) we are counting down the weeks. Today marks the beginning of my 23rd week, so not including today (but counting in our actual due date, which just so happens to be a Sunday) we officially have 17 Baby Sunday’s left.
So what happens on Baby Sunday? Well it depends. Last weekend we spent the day with friends celebrating Easter and didn’t really do much that was “baby” related. However, the Sunday before that we worked on getting the nursery ready. So it’s sort of become our… “what can we do to prep for baby day.”
Now, it should be noted that in my husband’s mind there is practically an eternity left between now and D-Day (delivery day). He looks at the calendar and sees that we are still in the month of April and the little angel isn’t due to arrive until August. I look at the calendar and see that I have less than 20 weeks to prepare for the arrival of a little person that is going to consume a great deal of my life for the next 20 years. Obviously we are at different ends of the spectrum. Being as that is the case, I am trying to restrain myself and not get too crazy on Baby Sundays. I’m trying to stay calm and minimize my nagging about shelves that need to be installed, curtains that need to be hung and book cases that need to be moved. After-all, these are the last 17 weeks in his life that there won’t be a little person interrupting his Sunday morning sleep-in ritual. He should get to enjoy it too.
So today I am celebrating Baby Sunday by going out for a pastry with one of my girlfriends and then to a baby decor boutique. So it’s likely I’ll come home this afternoon with more items for the hubby to put together on a future Baby Sunday. Ahh… “the circle of life.”
