Yesterday marks the beginning of my fifth month of pregnancy and while I might be struggling with getting comfortable sleeping on my side at night, I’m also struggling with what to do about maternity wear. Like most women I have three groupings of clothes in my closet; ideal size, normal size and uh-oh time to go to the gym size. So I’ve been using the uh-oh time to go the gym size clothes on the days I feel like wearing looser duds. Of course now as the belly bump is really starting to make its presence known I’m wondering how I want to handle maternity wear.
I found an interesting article from MomLogic.com (one of my fave sites) that was titled Pregnant? Don’t Buy Maternity! This of course caught my eye. The article gives some great suggestions on how to avoid purchasing maternity clothes. The key is buying items you can wear during and after your pregnancy. I’m absolutely on board for saving cash and keeping style.
Here’s an affordable sun dress from Old Navy that I bought a couple of weeks ago for just $19.50. It’s not maternity but because of the cut there’s plenty of room for the bump to grow and it will fit great after the little one is here and the bump is gone. I bought it in blue, but it’s also available in six other colors/patterns.

You may find that the darling sundress you bought will not do the trick later in your pregnancy. The growing baby bump will fill out the front of the dress and make the length pull up in the front. A real give away that it is not make for pregnant moms. Why not look at the darling sundresses on line that are made for the occasion and definitely have the style to be worn after the baby is born. Enjoy your pregnancy with clothes made for the important changes you are experiencing.

MommyGhee… Thanks for the advice. To be honest I hadn’t thought of how the bump might pull up the front of the dress. It fits well now and I’m hoping to get a couple of wears out of it before the end of my second trimester.
